Mere Samne Wali Khidki Main.

“Abe alas ke putlon utho…dekho baahar kya ho raha hai”.Utkarsha was excited when he tried wake up his room mates. When nobody responded he said ‘loudly’,”Three girls are shifting into our neighborhood and they have rented the ground floor”. All his roommates were awake and they asked the same question simultaneously, “What? Sahi main?” Utkarsha replied, “Nahi aj subah subah bhang kha ke vrat toda hai maine. Ja kar khud hi dekh le”

So, all of them were standing in front of the gate of their house and the girls were unloading the luggage from the lorry. One of them said, “Mujhse in bandion ki taqleef nahi dekhi jaati. I must go and help them in unloading the luggage”. The other two guys agreed and they decided to help Eena, Meena and Deeka (these are not their actual names). So, they wore ear to ear smiles and asked one of the ladies if they need help. The girls exchanged smiles with each other and then the scene changed, the girls were sipping cold drinks and the boys were doing all the hard work. When the boys were done with the luggage the girls thanked them for the help and the cold drink. In the next couple of minutes the girls went inside and locked the door. They boys were still standing outside ‘happily’ looking at the doors.

Utkarsha said,”Chalo bhaiyo, kya ab idhar hi khade rahoge din bhar”. The boys were really happy for the whole day.

Utkarsha used to come back to home early because he was using the company transportation facility. When he returned home the next day, he was surprised to see all his room mates in the house. He asked how come they are back to home so early. Then one of them replied,”Kya karte office main der tak ruk kar office (he winked)”. Since the window of the house adjacent to ours was open, we could see inside the house.

It was Friday. The girls were very happy because their ‘kilkarian’ could be heard until late in the night. The boys thought of playing the famous “Mere samne wali khidki main” from Padosan. There was tabla, there was guitar and there was a singer. So, they started playing the song.

“Fataak”…they heard something. When the guitarist stood up to look at the window, he found it closed and ‘kilkaris’ had also vanished. The boys were very frustrated when somebody knocked the door. Utkarsha opened the door and when he did not come back the other two guys also went outside. They were surprised to see Utkarsha talking to Eena, Meena and Deeka. The girls wanted to join the boys. They played a lot of songs until midnight and they became good friends thereafter.

Anurodh asked,”aisa sahi main ho sakta hai?”
Virodh who was telling the story replied, “Bilkul ho sakta hai. Mere teen doston ki hi to kahani hai ye. Ab so jaa…;)”
